1969 Home Show Pyramids

best act: 2023
Pyramids is a staple act for every Gymkana show, and it dates back to the very first Home Show in 1947. The only act in which every single trouper participates, pyramids allows the audience to see the team in its entirety and witness the unity and harmony of the whole troupe working together. The act is a team bonding experience and acknowledges the importance of every single trouper, regardless of the number of acts they perform in. The pyramids act utilizes sets of poles for shoulder stands, a tall handstand pole, and each trouper’s own strength, coordination, and balance. Usually, three or four different pyramids are featured in the act, with one specific structure— affectionately called “the big pyramid” by coaches and troupers— remaining the same each season. Although the act can be challenging to organize and requires creativity to keep the act fresh from year to year, the end result is inspiring, meaningful to the team, and incredibly photogenic.
