2010-2011
After a snowstorm cancelled Gymkana’s first road show in its 65th year, the troupe kicked off the season with three separate performances in one week— an elementary school show, a vaulting halftime for UMD men’s basketball, and a DMT halftime for UMD women’s. Gymkana performed at some unique shows this year, including Parisi Speed School, which provides training for young athletes and shares Gymkana’s core message of living a healthy lifestyle. The troupe also made an appearance at the FOX 45 Health Expo in Baltimore for the first time.
At Home Show, many acts presented unique new ideas. The balance beam act included two beams criss crossing, allowing for distinctive and exclusive group sequences. A solo baton act joined the continuity, as well as a comedy p-bars act. Troupers on uneven bars and rings once again collaborated to combine the two acts into one back-and-forth feat.
